First I sculpted the concept in Zbrush and made sure it kind of has the texture of a moon. It was very important to me to show that the little ball is something very precious to the moonslug. The eyes were just holes to make it look more mysterious, as you can see in the Thumbnails.
Right after that I moved on to Maya retopologized and UV'ed.In Substance 3D Painter I applied a few textures to make the model look more organic and living and made sure the eyes look the same as in the concept.
